They write blog entries about guys that date sub par chicks. When in reality it is women who are the greatest offenders of putting 3rd string dudes (pause) into starting positions. Look at Jay and Bee, Trump and Mabel, Seal and Heidi... Biggie and Faith. The list could go on. My ex girlfriend once told me that she was attracted to me because I was cute but not FINE. She believed that guys who were extremely good looking were more likely to cheat because they had greater options.... and that it was too much work to maintain a relationship with a guy that looked too good. You can see why that relationship didn't last. Its clear that women will date, marry and have sex with a guy who they aren't physically attracted to as long as he provides security....whether its security for their egos, bank accounts, or lifestyle women.... can sacrifice looks for stability. '

But for the sake of discussion...I'll share some observations.

As a man the only time I've ever feigned interests in a woman who was sub par was to make her friend jealous. See How To Be A Player. You are never more coveted as a guy as when you are in a relationship. Especially with a woman who people perceive as not being your equal. Women are intrigued by the mismatch. They want to know what sub par chick has that she doesn't. She also thinks that if you treat a sub par woman good you'll treat her even better. Sub par chick really becomes the pawn in a game of chess, that allows you to pursue without pursuing. She validates you as being not just another shallow guy....Who is only after a pretty face and fat ass. She talks about you to her friends. "Mars.....He's different....He's not like any other guy I dated before."

The beauty of the relationship with sub par chick is that she's grateful just to be with you. No attitude, no bullshit.... she's keenly aware of the mismatch and looks to compensate for said deficiencies in other ways. She doesn't mind sweating her hair out or having to cook dinner every now and again. So she becomes the part time GF and full time PR consultant. Her friends fall in love with you. They wish they could find a guy like you and when they can't they'll be open to taking you or at least sampling the goods in a convenient "drunken indiscretion."

Whether your open to their invitation may hinge upon your feelings for sub par chick. It is entirely possible that during the 'game' you lose sight of the objective or that feelings that you thought didn't exist....in fact do. Women seek stability.... and men seek a challenge... sub par chick is just a casualty of the pursuit.

Out With the Trophy...In With the Troll: Why Do Fine Men Date Ugly Women?

I know it's not nice to call anyone ugly...but humor me for a few minutes...

Why is it that either a guy is ridiculously picky (and really not that good-looking himself) OR he dates some sub-par homely looking girl?

I know looks aren't everything, but any man (or woman) would be lying if they said looks don't matter at all. So what is this really about? Are men who are just average, or below, extra picky because they have to make up for their lack of confidence? Are men who are above average dating ugly women to offset their self-absorbency; or is it that they lack confidence as well?

I went to the movies the other night to see Good Hair (great film btw). In the movie Ice T says that, as a young man, he was told the "only way to have an upper hand on a woman was to look better than her." Is that really what guys think?

It used to be that good looking men would date ugly women for obvious reasons, mainly sex. I can understand that logic (I suppose)....but now you men have taken it too far! lol I mean really wifing her...giving her a title...keys to your place...taking pictures together and plastering them all over your facebook wall...come on now guys...lets have some decorum.

I asked a friend of mine about a specific couple and he suggested this guy (the culprit) should have to "submit an essay to the board (while facing temporary suspension)." LoL. Soo...from this I gleaned two things: 1) off-top...this is not ok; and 2) in order to make it ok, there must be some compelling reason. So what is it? Spill it guys!
